Theme: CARE, CONTACT AND COMMUNICATION AIMS: 1. Be a communication point re social events at school - personally invite parents to come to events (encourage same to those expressing concern re not knowing anyone). 2. Encourage a friendly atmosphere - help all parents to feel comfortable and part of the school by communications and social interaction (taking special responsibility to welcome new parents/children) to encourage a sense of belonging to the Parish Community. 3. Assist teachers where necessary ie. if after notice sent out, the teacher requires more help with classroom programs/excursions class mothers can then approach parents personally. 4. Be aware of sickness/special needs within family/classroom - offer and initiate support eg. cut children's lunches or call on Parish casseroles. 5. MEETINGS OF THE PARENTS & FRIENDS ASSOCIATION and ST. CATHERINE’S SCHOOL BOARD Meetings of these two bodies are held regularly throughout the year and they are open meetings. By attending the meetings any parent can obtain an understanding of immediate and long term development of the school. Minutes of each Board Meeting and Parents & Friends Association Meeting are published and distributed with the School Newsletter.
These are held when appropriate, to maintain existing facilities and construct new ones at St. Catherine’s. Without the involvement of parents in this work the cost of many programs and facilities would be prohibitive. In addition they provide parents with the opportunity to have a "hands on" roll in the development of the school. All families are expected to attend at least one Working Bee per year.
